Don't Wander Off (closed to Kos and I)

"This here, is the festival of Tricoran Independence. This planet had long been under their power, before..." Proctor Bourosa prattled on about the history of the Festival they were now in, in his usual boring Proctor voice, while a mini sea of red followed after him; Timelord initiates, off planet for a 'history lesson'. That's what Bourosa had called it, anyways. To Theta, it just seemed like the man wanted to give his students a break, and perhaps himself one, as well. He was prattling less than usual, after all. And he was sure he wasn't the only young Timelord appreciating that.

Theta yawned, shifting his gaze from the adult Timelord to the scene around them; the cobblestone street they were on was fairly lively, with people out and about, sweeping their front porches and hanging glowing lanterns on the fronts of their doors. Glowing lanterns certainly seemed to be a theme, he noticed, glancing up at the wires crisscrossing over their heads, holding far too many lanterns to count. Theta nudged Kos, who was walking alongside him, pointing up at the lanterns.

"I wonder if the Proctors would allow glowing lanterns in our dorms... those are so cool!"

Blah, blah, blah was all Koschei could seem to hear from Proctor Bourosa's mouth as he spoke to them about something. Koschei wasn't exactly the best student for a reason. What reason you may ask? Well, he never paid the least bit of attention to anyone around him. Although he had to admit, this place was rather interesting with the glowing lanterns above their heads. A look of amazement appeared on Koschei's face. This place was unusual and strange. "I like it here." Koschei mumbled to himself. "I bet there's more to it though..." He shook his head and glanced to his friend after feeling a slight nudge on his arm.

Theta was simply pointing up at the lights above them. Maybe he was interested in them just like Koschei. Wait, they finally agreed on something? Koschei stopped walking at that thought and shuddered. Now that, was quite a surprise to him. His blue eyes slowly drifted to Theta. 'I think it's time we had a bit of harmless fun....' Koschei thought to himself as he "accidentally" started to walk to other direction. There had to be something else in this place.....

"Wait, wait, where are you going??"

Theta jogged after Koschei, after he realized that his friend was no longer walking beside him. He gave the other Timelord a disapproving look as he fell into stride with him "You can't just wander off like that, Kos! What if you couldn't find the group again?" he glanced worriedly over his shoulder at the other initiates, who were continuing down a different road than the one he and Koschei were walking down. Soon enough, they would be out of sight. That would be fine on Gallifrey, and Theta would actually relish the chance to explore, but on a different planet without a TARDIS, they could get seriously lost, or worse, stranded. Well, the group was going to be staying the night here for the festival, so maybe the second option was unlikely, but still! Borousa would be furious.

Then again... this area was really nice, and it was good to be away from everyone else for once... no, no, he couldn't let Koschei drag him into this! He tugged at his friend's robe impatiently.

"C'monn, we have to go back"

Koschei sighed heavily at his friend's impatience and worry. He needed to learn how to loosen up! Being a goody two shoes had to get tiring eventually, right? Shaking his head at the annoyed feeling that had suddenly appeared, he stopped just long enough to stare at Theta's eyes. "Would you loosen up Theta? We'll only be gone for a bit. I bet this place has interesting things without a tour group showing us everything." Koschei chuckled as he walked on down the seemingly small streets. This had to be something he could convince Theta to do. Just a matter of puppy eyes and a nice good reason to ditch the group.

"I bet there is even something that Time Lords haven't seen before.... Wouldn't that be... well brilliant?" Koschei pondered the idea himself after coming to a second complete stop. Turning his full body and attention to his nervous friend, he smiled kindly. "Adventure is always worth the risk. Isn't that what you use to tell me?" A knowing gleam crossed his eyes as he could tell Theta was easy to convince on a subject such as adventure. All Koschei had to do was keep talking and Theta would sigh and say yes. He always did! Always!

Now it was Koschei's turn to be impatient about this. They had been standing still and talking for five minutes. Did they want to get caught?! "Oh come on!" Koschei growled, not caring what Theta was saying or had planned to say. Quickly, Koschei caught Theta's hand into his own and tugged his clueless friend along. It was time for Theta to learn how to be bad!

Theta blinked dumbfoundedly at his friend's reasoning. He always told Kos those exact words when he wanted to go explore some part of the citadel, but Theta hadn't expected them to come back to bite him in the butt.  Well, he had, but certainly not while they were on a foreign planet. He frowned in contemplation. It was a rather nice planet that they were on, and surely the tour group would just stick to the main road, and not venture off the beaten path... besides. Both of them knew that any mention of discovering something other Timelords hadn't would make Theta cooperate in a heartsbeat. He sighed.

"Fi-hey!" He was cut off as the other, more impatient Timelord latched onto his hand and began to drag him along, making Theta stumble for a few steps before he found his footing once more. He huffed out another sigh, but it quickly turned into a laugh as he jogged to keep up with Koschei's rather quick pace.

"Fine, fine I'm going!"

A winning smile poured upon Koschei's lips as Theta finally caved. For most people, they probably wouldn't like the idea of being told what to do; however, Theta wasn't like most people. In fact, Theta was the exact opposite of people, aliens, and Time lords. 'He even needs his own category...' Koschei thought to himself quietly. 'Besides! Theta needed adventure in his boring, redundant life... all he worries about are grades!' He continued to think to himself as they walked. Koschei would admit that he wasn't paying Theta the least bit of attention at the moment, but he would...soon enough.....

Koschei snapped back into reality when he felt his face get hot. It was unusual to feel his cheeks get red and hot. Was it natural? Were cheeks suppose to go this color? Was he going to die?! The confused look on Koschei's face vanished in a matter of seconds as he figured out what was wrong with him. 'I'm blushing?!' Koschei panicked in head so Theta couldn't laugh or guess why he was freaking out. 'Something is causing me to blush... what causes blushing? Embarrassment?' He tried so hard to figure the simple equation in his head. Which was saying something because Koschei rarely ever did math... maybe this was something actually important?

"Oh my-?!" Koschei blurted out rather loudly. The silence between the two only made it even louder. Koschei bit onto his chapped bottom lip as he tried to calm his beating hearts. Yes, he was embarrassed. Yes, he was still blushing. The answer to why he was blushing was what caught him off guard. Koschei Oakdown, the man who chose hatred for most of his teenage years, had a crush on his best friend. 'Bet you didn't see that one coming....' He commented to himself as he started at his confused friend. Now... he needed an excuse to cover up his stupidity......
